Scope of Accidentals

A sharp or flat will affect not only the note it precedes, but will also affect any other note on the same line or space on which the sharp or flat occurs, until the end of the measure.  You have reached the end of a measure when you come to a vertical line spanning the staff.  (Measures will be discussed in more detail when we get to the section on rhythm.)
