Exploration

2012

For some time I now have been wanting to explore creative avenues in electronic music.  Electronic music composition offers a certain freedom that one doesn't experience when composing for orchestra, not being limited by issues of playability... or even, in some cases, realism.  This gives one the flexibility to turn the imagination loose amid a vast range of possibilities, to create something unique and beautiful.

Mixing elements of acoustic instrumentation with the purely synthesized, together with the use of traditional harmonies, allows a composition to retain an element of familiarity, while simultaneously suggesting something fanciful, mystical, or exotic, without being so otherworldy as to be completely alien.

As its name suggests, this piece is just one artifact resulting from the exploration of many possibilities in the realm of synthesized music.
