Shang Di

Even though this video is primarily directed toward Chinese people, and Chinese Christians in particular, I found it immensely encouraging.  The pastor talks about what the Chinese people believed for over two millennia before the advent of Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism, and shows how the God of the ancient Chinese, whom they called “Shang Di”, is identical to the God of the Bible.  He then goes on to show how the earliest events of the bible are recorded in the very structure of the Chinese language.  He demonstrates that the God of the Bible is not just an “American” god or a “Western” god, but He is in fact Shang Di, the One who has been the God of the Chinese people from the very beginning, and who is, indeed, the Lord of all the Earth.

Watching this hour-long video is time well spent!  I wish that every Chinese person, and especially Chinese Christians, could see this.  If you know of anyone who would be encouraged by this message, be sure to share it!

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know Your name will trust in You,
for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.
Sing praises to the Lord, enthroned in Zion;
proclaim among the nations what He has done.
For He who avenges blood remembers;
He does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.
— Psalm 9:9-12
