Free Motion Quilting Samples, Vol. 1

Monday, June 13, 2022

I took a free-motion quilting class with Swan Sheridan earlier this year. Based on the premise that it takes 500 hours to get good at anything, she gave the class a homework assignment, as follows:

  1. Take about 30 minutes to plan and create a free-motion quilting design.
  2. Do this 3 times a week for 4 weeks. When you finish, you should have 12 free motion quilting design samples.
  3. Compare your last sample with your first, and note the improvement!

This seemed like a good idea, and I took it one step further: I bound my quilt samples into a plush book, with a hand-embroidered cover. This is the result.

We have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.  And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.
