Flower Farm Quilt

Wednesday, December 19, 2018

This quilt was based on a design entitled “Flower Farm”, found in Easy Quilt Projects magazine by Better Homes and Gardens, #3812, published by Leisure Arts, Inc. (January 1, 2004)  The fabric is flannel and feels wonderful!  The finished quilt measures 54"x70".

I undertook this project using a quilt-as-you-go technique.  For each quilt block, the back and batting are cut to size, and the front is cut with a 1-inch seam allowance.  Each block is quilted separately.

To join blocks, place front right sides together, and stitch along the edge of the back and batting.  Press that seam open, fold the seam allowance in half, and stitch close to the fold, which will be 1/2-inch from the seam.

This creates an interesting “reversible” pattern.  Here is the back of the quilt:

And here's a cat, for scale:

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is His love for those who fear Him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him;
for He knows how we are formed,
He remembers that we are dust.
